Friends Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS 17:30 for prompt start at 18:00.

Vehicle speeds in residential areas are a perennial issue for transport professionals and can have a significant impact on the “liveability” of streets.

20's Plenty For Us was formed in order to campaign for the implementation of 20 mph as the default speed limit on residential roads in the UK. However, this proposal has divided opinion amongst transport professionals and local authorities alike.

Portsmouth and others have decided to implement authority-wide 20mph limits on all non-arterial streets across the city whereas other places, like Greater Manchester, take a different approach based upon need at a given location and the projected impact on casualty reduction.

The event will provide an opportunity for transport professionals to debate the issues surrounding this concept with three influential speakers from Greater Manchester including:

  • Bruce Allan – Associate Director, JMP Consultants Ltd
  • Rod King – Founder and Campaign Director, 20’s Plenty for us
  • Josie Wride – Group Leader, Greater Manchester Joint Road Safety Group
