Travel in Britain 2035: Exploring the future of transport, technology and land use

A joint event from the Royal Town Planning Institute, Transport Planning Society and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Without substantial investment, the UK will experience severe congestion across its transport infrastructure over the coming decades. The 'Travel in Britain in 2035' study from the RAND Corporation explores future travel scenarios and their implications for technology and innovation. It considers whether emerging technologies will be able to address congestion problems by using capacity more efficiently, supporting different mode choices, and managing or reducing travel demand.

The RTPI, TPS and CILT are now inviting Charlene Rohr, senior reseacher leader at RAND Europe and co-author of the study, to a free evening panel discussion in London. She will be joined by a number of other speakers to discuss the wider relationship between transport, technology and land-use planning.

Other confirmed speakers include:

  • Chair: Christopher Stanwell, Partner and Head of Planning at DAC Beachcroft
  • Alan Braithwaite, Chairman of LCP Consulting, Visiting Professor in Supply Chain Management at Cranfield University, and Chair of the CILT Freight and Logistics Policy Group
  • Keith Buchan, Director, MTRU and Director of Skills, TPS
  • Toby Thornton, Associate at WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff
