Transport Planning Day Photography Competition

TPS is pleased to launch a Photographic Competition as part of Transport Planning Day and the 2021 Campaign which has the theme Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in transport.  We are looking to expand our library of high quality images from the UK which are used to update the look of our website and are asking you, our members, to help us out by taking part. We are particularly keen to receive submissions that illustrate diversity and inclusion in transport users and usage, and equality and diversity within the profession. So it’s not just about transport modes and cityscapes, but also about site meetings, surveys, office activities, public consultation. If you think that it relates to the objectives of Transport Planning Day and professional activities by our members, then please submit it!

General Rules

The competition is open to all members of TPS and organisations that are Stakeholder members. 

Each entrant is permitted to submit a maximum of THREE images and should indicate which of the following two categories they fit in:-

1. Category 1 - EDI in transport users and usage 

2. Category 2- EDI in the transport profession

You must have full copyright to the submitted material.  Submissions must not include and endorsements of products or services, or any obscene, violent, racist or defamatory content. Entries that do not comply with this will be automatically disqualified. 

If your photograph is focused on an identifiable individual, you must ensure that you have their consent to appear in the image.

The deadline for submissions is 30 September. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Image Requirements 

Each submission must contain at least one and a maximum of three images.

Photographs must be taken in the UK. Images from other countries will be disqualified.

Photos must be in JPEG format and of high resolution. Poor quality/low resolution images will be rejected. 

Judging Criteria and Prizes

The judging panel will be made up of members of the TPS Board.  Judges will review the  images in each of the two categories described above and  shortlist them according to their quality and relevance to the  theme of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in transport.  

Three photos in each category will be awarded vouchers of £100 each.  There will be an additional prize for the overall winner which will be showcased at Transport Planning Day on 15 November.  Photos from the other winners will be used in TP Day publicity and the runners-up will be added to the TPS image library and used to illustrate the website and news items where relevant.

The winners will be notified by email and arrangements will be made to award the prizes.
