Past TPS Event - 27th September 2017

Transport Planning: Data driven decision making.

As the role of transport planners in society evolves, we are increasingly turning to the use of large and diverse sources of data to help inform our decision making in relation to policy and investments.

On 27 September 2017  the Transport Planning Society (TPS) and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT)  jointly hosted a thought provoking event in Trinity College Dublin on the importance of data in the decision-making process for Transport Planners.

Cormac Halpin, Senior Statistician from the Central Statistics Office, presented on the latest key findings from Census 2016 as well as on the recent changes in the process for accessing the micro data.

Dr Edgar Morgenroth, Associate Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), shared his research and interesting insights on regional development trends in Ireland and their impact on transport development as well as on the wider economy.

We would like to thank everyone for their participation!
