Vehicles for change: Transport planning – the driver, passenger or bystander?
Professor Glenn Lyons, UWE Bristol
It seems rather passé to refer to uncertainty these days. There is so much of it around that it can make you numb. Is anyone in control anymore? Who has the capacity to influence? We face driving forces of change in social, technological, economic, environmental and political domains. Is ‘technology (and infrastructure) will save us’ now the answer to sustainable transport in a fast changing world or does the transport planning profession still have a promising future in helping drive change? What can we as transport planners do to ensure the answer to the latter is ‘yes’?
Join us for drinks in the New Year where Glenn will be elaborating on this and stimulating debate for TPS in 2017.
