Transport policies provide the guiding principles for the planning, assessment, delivery and management of transport infrastructure and services. Through a range of senior leaders, appointed officials, stakeholders and professional advisors, they exert a powerful influence on the way in which the transport planning process operates and secures change on the ground.

This course considers the basic principles of transport policy taking an objective-led approach as its starting point. It then addresses a range of mechanisms and approaches by which policy is translated into initiatives on the ground, taking account of planning and appraisal tools, stakeholder engagement and feedback and monitoring of desired outcomes. Upon completion of this course, delegates will understand the basic principles of transport policy and the process for effectively developing and implementing.
