Transport Planning Day Campaign

Transport Planning Day Campaign, events and awards

We're excited to launch our Transport Planning Day campaign to raise the profile of transport planning and its role in changing people's lives. The aim is to engage communities on the role of transport planners in delivering  quality places for people.

The people’s award – for you to win

We transport planners seek to support and enrich people’s lives through well planned transport. But now we want to hear back from you about the difference that transport has actually made to your lives.

So we are offering awards to people, groups, campaigners, communities, Parish Councils, Town Councils etc. to submit nominations for transport projects that have made a significant difference to living in your locality, and to tell us how people’s day-to-day lives have been improved.

This could be something that has created new opportunities for travel, improved the environment, created nicer public space, made it easier to get around, improved the journey to school or the shops or made your area a better one in any other way. It could be a big or a small scheme – we will take that into account in judging the nominations.

Transport Planning Day event

Transport Planning Day will be held on 13 November at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London and a wide range of people have been invited. The day is a fantastic opportunity for the community representatives to engage with transport planning and to celebrate the positive impact it can have on people’s lives, as well as the diversity of our profession.

The event will showcase the finalists of our People’s Award and announce the winner.

Session 1 – 15:30 to 17:30

The afternoon session brings together community groups and transport planning professionals for an interactive discussion about best practice in community engagement in transport planning. It will enable the professionals to hear from communities about what they value in transport planning.

Session 2 – 17:30 to 21:00

The evening session features a keynote speech from Lilian Greenwood MP, Chair of the Transport Select Committee.

During the evening, we will announce the winners of our first ever People’s Award for a transport planning initiative that has improved people’s lives as part of place-making.

Invites are restricted to invited guests only due to accommodation limitations but please let us know if you would like to be placed on the waiting list.
