Job Description

Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. Through our work, we make a positive difference in the world.
 
As part of the continued growth of our established multi-disciplinary Consulting team in Scotland and North East England, we are looking for a Transport Planner/Engineer with at least four years of experience.  They will come from a transportation consulting background and be progressing towards TPP/CEng accreditation.  Whilst based in our Glasgow office, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in other locations to support projects throughout the UK.
 
 
Role
 
We are seeking a diverse and experienced individual who can demonstrate transport planning, engineering, management and analytical capabilities, with an interest in new innovations in transport and, for example, the relationships between transport planning, noise, air quality and health.  GIS knowledge/expertise would therefore be an advantage.  The successful candidate should be able to work under clear instruction and independently, with a track record of delivering quality outputs aligned with project deadlines and have a proven understanding and exposure to the Glasgow and West of Scotland marketplace.
 
In particular, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding and experience within the private and public sector markets within the Glasgow and West of Scotland market, with experience in development planning, transport policy/research, Masterplanning, design, analysis and industry standard modelling packages.
 
The successful candidate will become an integral part of an existing strong transport planning, planning and environmental team based in Glasgow, also supporting the teams based in Edinburgh and Newcastle.  You will:
 
  • Support senior management in delivering key projects.
  • Manage individual projects or elements of larger projects in support of the PM/PD.
  • Provide technical and professional support, management and mentoring of junior members of staff.
  • Supporting the business development and continued growth of the Consulting group in Glasgow and the wider Scotland and North East group.
 
Requirements and skills
 
Relevant experience in transport planning with technical knowledge demonstrated across a range of areas included transport policy, transport modelling, transport assessments.
 
  • Experience of and exposure in the Glasgow market.
  • Previous experience of writing and presenting technical reports.
  • Confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to manage workload and ability to carry out tasks to strict deadlines and budgets.
  • Proficient in analytical data analysis and modelling.
 
 Essential Qualifications:
 
  • Degree qualified and have either achieved or working towards Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
