The creation of a new transportation division in Atkins brings together the capabilities of our Highway and Rail teams into a single business of 3,000 talented engineers and professionals. The UK transport sector is experiencing unprecedented levels of investment and Atkins is playing lead roles in a diverse range of projects such as high speed rail, intelligent transport systems and the Venturer driverless car project. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate many of the following:
 
TECHNICAL / SECTOR:
  • sound knowledge of new technology, ‘big data’ and/or transport sectors
  • experience in relevant fields of Intelligent Mobility, such as:
    • data exploitation and visualisation
    • modelling and predictive data
    • connected and autonomous vehicles
    • mobility as a service
    • journey management
    • cyber security
    • digital services
  • experience of working with SMEs and academia in Intelligent Mobility
  • involvement in research and recognised expert in their field
  • experience of delivering technology-enabled change projects
  • experience in developing and delivering profitable incubator businesses
  • transport sector experience delivering projects for clients such as Highways England, Transport for London, Department for Transport, Transport Systems Catapult and local authorities

  • an ability to analyse markets, understand client needs and convert opportunities into compelling value propositions
  • experience in translating new and disruptive technologies into propositions

  • sales, client and consultancy market-facing background, preferably within private and public sector

  • experience of successfully operating within a target-driven environment, with a consistent track record of achieving or exceeding targets
  • Policy and advisory knowledge in the Transport sector
 STRATEGIC NETWORKING:
  • experience of building effective networks, both internally and externally
  • excellence in client relationship management, with an ability to access and influence at senior level with ease
  • experience of developing strategic relationships with clients and exploring ways to add significant value to the client’s agenda
  • understanding of IM's non-traditional client base
 
The preferred candidate’s core skills will include IM, big data or transport technical knowledge, value proposition and market analysis, and delivery of technology and innovation projects. The successful candidate will also be:

    • degree qualified or with equivalent professional qualification
