2 Positons for Planner - Transport Modelling
Permanent positions:
1) Pedestrian modelling
2) Model support (coding)
Job Purpose
TfL is leading the development of London’s transport system through innovation and are investing millions of pounds in upgrading train services and stations, through projects like the Elizabeth line. You’ll assist by providing modelling and analysis that informs Public Transport decisions across the business. You’ll use your skills to support the delivery of short, medium, and long-term projects by providing forecasts and using them in simulation models. The results from this analysis will help improve our plans for trains, buses and station infrastructure to better meet how customers want to use them. You’ll optimise services for customer journey time, service reliability, network capacity and connectivity, while taking account of value for money, operational constraints and customer priorities. Your work will help increase public transport use, making London a cleaner, greener and healthier city.
You’ll have an opportunity to work on some of our wide-range of current projects including: modelling additional station capacity e.g. at Stratford, Holborn & Camden; the Bakerloo line Upgrade and Extension, and improving passenger experience during planned temporary closure. Plans will also consider the impact of changes in the short and longer-term on demand as services and population change.
One of the roles will focus on pedestrian modelling, analysing how to improve stations and use software such as Legion and our in-house models.
The other role will focus on using coding to support the development of our in-house models to keep them world leading.
On the job training is provided in our all our work including pioneering and bespoke tools. Recent projects the team have included planning the Elizabeth Line and Northern Line extensions, major station upgrades such as Bank & Victoria stations and proposals for major changes to the bus network. You’ll develop our innovative research projects into passenger behaviour in partnership with universities.
