Transport Strategy Team Leader

Job Description

Transport Strategy Team Leader

Salary: Band 12 £47,572 - £51,854 p.a.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: 2 x Permanent posts and 1 x fixed term post

Come and be part of a team that can shape the future of transport in Portsmouth. Portsmouth City Council is a dynamic authority with a proven track record of partnership working and successful funding bids.

With an adopted Portsmouth Transport Strategy (Local Transport Plan 4) the Transport team are working towards a clear vision that "By 2038 Portsmouth will have a people-centred, connected, travel network that prioritises walking, cycling and public transport to help deliver a safer, healthier and more prosperous city" and we need strong Team Leaders to push this forward!

Portsmouth is currently developing a series of daughter strategies to the Local Transport Plan with those emerging over the next year including parking, electric vehicle infrastructure and public transport, are you the person who can develop and shape this transport policy?

We are always keen to identify and maximise external funding opportunities, and have recently secured more external funding than ever before with grant awards including Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Bus Service Improvement Plan, Zero Emission Bus Regional Area, Future Transport Zone, Transforming Cities Fund, Active Travel Fund and Local Capability Fund. Come and be a part of the exciting and transformative work happening in developing Portsmouth's travel network, delivering our policies and receiving national recognition such as for our award winning On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme.

Many of the funded programmes are working with our neighbouring local transport authority partners including Solent Transport, as well as private sector partners such as operators. There is an opportunity for this role to represent Portsmouth in sub-regional work with not only Solent Transport but also Transport for South East and Partnership for South Hampshire.

We are looking for three Transport Strategy Team Leaders, who will report directly to the Transport Planning Manager, one with a key focus on policy and strategy development, another to focus on strategic programme and pilot project delivery, scoping out the opportunities and bringing innovation to the city, and the third leading on electric vehicle infrastructure, developing our strategy and delivering the much needed infrastructure to the city. The post holders will lead a diverse team and will work closely with colleagues, councillors, and key stakeholders to shape the city's public transport offer and deliver against the transport strategy and wider corporate objectives, embedding a strategic and evidence based approached to delivery.

This is a great time to join the Transport Service at Portsmouth City Council as we have an ambitious, high-profile pipeline of projects coming forward in the city and you will be joining an enthusiastic team.
