Your new role, what's involved?

 

  • Demonstrating a range of technical skills covering aspects such as transport policy and strategy, feasibility studies, option assessment and business cases.  You can expect to be involved on a number of projects at any given time, so the ability to manage competing priorities is essential.
  • Leading your own project work, including monitoring performance against budgets and programme and delegating appropriate tasks to junior team members. Given our regional structure you will be flexible to working on projects across our northern offices.
  • Providing support to a number of senior staff as well as developing your own project management, commercial and work winning skills. You will assist in the management and training of our Graduates and Apprentices where appropriate.

Our projects range from small-scale local transport improvements to major road network, rail and sustainable travel schemes. We provide advice to private sector and local authority clients on access and transportation issues and support development proposals through the planning process. The team works closely with our Transport and Infrastructure / Development Planning teams on larger multi-disciplinary development proposals.

 

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

 

 

  • Degree in relevant spatial or numerical subject, at Grade 2:1 or above;

The following skills are essential:

  • A good understanding of transport project development processes;
  • Experience of the production and review of transport plans and strategies, feasibility studies, Option Assessment Reports and Business Cases
  • Working knowledge of transport guidance and current best practice (such as WebTAG);
  • Working knowledge of current transport policy at sub-regional, regional and national level;
  • The ability to think at both strategic and detailed levels;
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills and excellent working knowledge of MS Office tools
  • Ability to produce high quality project reports, including technical documents;
  • Ability to communicate technical arguments to technical and non-technical clients; and
  • Present outputs from studies to range of audiences.

The following skills/qualifications are desirable:

  • Working towards Chartered Engineer/TPP status;
  • Post-graduate degree in Transportation Planning or other relevant subject;
  • Competence in GIS techniques; and
  • Full and clean driving license.

If not already achieved, the candidate will be expected to work towards professional accreditation
