Your role
We are seeking a Transport Analyst to join the Transport Strategy Modelling and Analysis team assisting with tasks to help shape the future transport network in Greater Manchester.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with various teams within TfGM such as Highways, Metrolink, Sustainable Journeys and external teams such as the Department for Transport and Urban Transport Group. With support, you will be involved in gathering, analysing and managing diverse datasets, spotting patterns and generating insights and ultimately communicating your insights to colleagues to help inform and influence decisions. You will also be able to expand your skills and knowledge within Transport Appraisals, by working closely with Senior Transport Planners who will provide you with support for your development, allowing you to assist with appraising small schemes, drawing in data to analyse transport usage, interventions being proposed and how this will impact travel behaviours of the Greater Manchester Public. You will also be provided with training in general forecasting and analytical techniques, including the use of presentational and analytical tools.

Transport Strategy is expanding its Modelling and Appraisal team as part of an ambitious and wide-ranging work programme. We have an integral role in the decision making process at TfGM to support the growth aspirations of the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.
What you’ll bring
You will have experience of problem-solving using data, maths or computer science with an interest in the use of data to create enhanced understanding through the appropriate application of numerical and analytical tools and techniques. You will be a strong team player, with equal ability to work effectively both on your own initiative and with others. You will be enthusiastic with an interest in continuing your personal development. You will also be educated to degree level or have equivalent levels of work experience involving the creation of insight from the gathering and processing of data.
