  • Wider team support across Ireland includes input to projects such as the DART+ Programme, BusConnects, Luas Lucan, Luas Finglas, Navan Rail Extension, National Emissions Model, M50 Variable Speed Limits, Rail Freight Strategy, Greater Dublin Area Cycle Strategy, Connected Autonomous Vehicles Studies and Dublin Airport Masterplan

A key part of this role is working closely with our associates and directors within Transportation and other disciplines across our offices. You will provide leadership, mentoring and technical advice for team members and the wider business. As such, you will need to have experience and knowledge of the full range of transport planning.

You will be supported in this role by other like-minded individuals and a team with international recognition in many areas of transport planning. Collectively, you will form a team that delivers quality products, that satisfies the needs of our clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • As a Senior Transport Planner, you will be an important member of our Transport Planning and Modelling team in Belfast.

  • You will assist with the specification and management of transport planning and modelling projects, provide advice and support to junior staff and assist in the development of business opportunities.

  • You will lead workstreams within projects with limited supervision, taking responsibility for the technical quality of the work and ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently.

  • You will also contribute to the production and delivery of larger proposals and bids related to our market area from time to time and lead on smaller proposals and bids.

  • You will take responsibility for the technical development of junior staff, providing on-the-job coaching and mentoring.

Minimum Requirements

  • An analytical mind and background and a broad understanding of current transportation trends and issues.

  • Knowledge and an appreciation of the current NI transport sector.

  • Experience in areas such as transport strategy/plans, modelling and business case development which demonstrates excellent technical capabilities (literacy, numeracy, communication).

  • A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a consultancy environment, contributing to effective client relationships and working to tight deadlines.

  • A team player who can work as part of wider project teams across disciplines and geographies – making high-quality technical contributions.

  • Proven analytical, data manipulation or statistical skills using appropriate software;

  • You need to have strong technical, communication and report-writing skills;

  • You should be able to explain technical concepts to others, especially our graduates and anyone else who may ask

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree/Masters's qualification in an analytical subject (e.g. engineering, geography, mathematics, economics, spatial planning) from an accredited college or university, or overall equivalent experience.

  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant chartered professional institution such as TPS or CIHT.

  • Working towards professional chartership, such as the Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP) qualification or Chartered Engineer (CEng).
