TPS is pleased to announce the launch Transport Planning Day 2024.
See all the current vacancies.
Open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis.
Barely a week goes by without some headline or other warning of an impending obesity crisis for the UK, and we’re getting far too familiar with ‘freaky eater’ programmes on prime-time TV. But, as a nation, are we already becoming immune to such messages? As transport planners, have health issues ever really impacted on the work we do? The more we assume the problem is purely about diet, the less we’ll think we have a professional role to play. If we explore the extent to which the warnings about the nation’s health also relate to a lack of physical activity, then we’ll understand better how we can help.
The Brunel Room, The Institution of Civil Engineers, 1 Great George Street, London, SW1.
Refreshments will be provided from 6.30pm in the Brunel Room. Event 7.00 - 8.30pm.
Adrian Davis (JMP Consulting & Bristol Primary Care Trust)
Bob Ravelli (Contemporary Transport)
Adrian Davis will bring his experience in drafting relevant guidance and will impart his specialist knowledge of health impact assessment in transport and of appraising the successful bids for the three Sustainable Travel Towns. Bob Ravelli will draw on his experience of international best practice experience in the fields of sustainable transport planning, travel demand management and mode behaviour change in focusing on the Health Impacts of the London 2012 Transport Plan. The issues we’ll cover on the evening should be at the heart of the ongoing work of our profession and the event, as ever, promises to inform, challenge and inspire.
Free to TPS members, £5 to non-members.
