This workshop led by Dr Tim Chatterton will discuss ‘Flexi-mobility’, a new way of thinking about travel behaviour that recognises and builds on evidence that people’s travel behaviour is far less rigid and fixed than is commonly held. By accepting that, across different time periods, most people travel by a range of modes, and that evidence from research shows that some change to travel patterns are usually acceptable, at least in the short-term it should be possible to re-frame sustainable transport policy to encourage more people to use non-car modes more of the time.
