The Association for European Transport is delighted to announce the details of its 43rd European Transport Conference, taking place between the 28th – 30th September 2015 at Campus Westend, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany.

It’s the leading European transport conference connecting the worlds of research, consultancy, policy and practice in the transport industry. Over 200 papers will be presented during the three day conference which unites researchers, practitioners and academics and provides a platform for different groups to pose questions to fellow professionals and to assess what is possible in terms of implementation and delivery.

With demands in Europe’s transport systems continuing to both increase and change as a result of a number of factors, presentations will look at ways transport planners can improve infrastructure whilst dealing with restricted budgets and timescales. Presentations will also explore the possible threats posed by climate change; energy and infrastructure security; responses to the need to improve health and fitness; hard and soft measures to improve the safety of walking and cycling and much more.

Presentations will cover a broad spectrum of transport modes and will address a wide number of issues including; urban mobility, investment in transport infrastructure, automated driving and smart mobility, social equity in transport and models to support transport planning and policy.

Speaking about the conference, Hans Jeekel, Board Chair for the Association for European Transport said: “We’ve been amazed at the record number of papers we received for this year’s conference and these are currently being reviewed by our programme committee. The conference themes will explore and delve into the hottest topics affecting the transportation sector both in the UK and across Europe.”

The conference welcomes new entrants into the transport industry and hosts a young researchers’ and practitioners’ forum. This forum provides a stage for early career researchers and practitioners to showcase their work to participants at the conference. Members of the association receive a reduction on conference fees along with the ability to sit on programme committees to help influence and shape the future of the European Transport Conference.
