The Metrolink Expansion Programme:

A £1.5 million investment programme is currently underway to triple the size of the Metrolink network.  In 2008, Parsons Brinkerhoff was appointed to work with Transport for Greater Manchester as the Delivery Partner for the Expansion Programme.  Since the programme commenced, new Metrolink lines have opened to MediaCityUK, Oldham and Rochdale, East Didsbury and Ashton-under-Lyne.  An extension to Manchester Airport is anticipated to open before the end of this year and a second crossing of Manchester City Centre is now under construction.  The Public Consultation for a proposed extension through Trafford Park has now commenced, in preparation for an application for a Transport and Works Act Order.

Background to Event:

This event will provide an overview of the process undertaken for obtaining the statutory powers to construct and operate the Metrolink Second City Crossing.  The presentation will focus on the key lessons learned and how these are being taken forward to preparations for an application for Statutory Powers for the proposed Metrolink Trafford Park Line.

This event will be of particular interest to client organisations and consultants supporting clients considering the potential feasibility and future development of light rail, heavy rail and other guided transit systems requiring authorisation through an Order under the Transport and Works Act 1992.

We look forward to seeing you there; CPD certificates for TPS members will be available.
