Amey Adopts the TPS Professional Development Scheme

Amey,  one of the UK’s major public service providers, has become a Stakeholder member of the Society and is joining the group of leading consultants that offer their younger transport planners the opportunity to develop the range, and depth, of professional skill required to progress to award of the TPP qualification, through the TPS Professional Development Scheme, the PDS, .

With a strong commitment to quality, Amey operates centres of excellence for their key capabilities to ensure best practice is shared and their staff are kept up to date with current thinking and legislation.

The company recognise that their younger staff can best gain the knowledge and skills they need through structured development, progressing to a professional qualification.  In deciding to adopt the PDS, they explain that:

‘we recognise there are benefits to both our staff and the company in obtaining the TPP qualification. By adopting the PDS we are providing an opportunity for staff to develop the professional skills needed to progress towards achieving the TPP qualification in a structured way and with the support of the company.’

Martin Richards, the Society’s Director for Skills welcomed Amey’s decision, saying:

‘the PDS is now firmly established as the industry standard, with 200 trainees in 92 offices of our 23 licenses across the UK.’.

Amey’s transport planners work across the UK for both central and local government as well as the private sector, helping to improve and optimise transport networks and ultimately help making sure things run smoothly for the end user.  Their skills include transport modelling; transport economics and appraisal; policy and strategy formulation; public transport; sustainable travel/smarter choices; development planning; road safety; and traffic engineering and management.
