The University of Glasgow is pleased to announce a new MSc in Urban Transport.

The University of Glasgow's new MSc in Urban Transport is designed to educate students to meet the needs of cities and urban areas in planning and managing surface transport systems. The programme will provide students with the opportunity to critically engage with theory and practice in transport and its connection to other aspects of society and the urban economy, and will have a strong emphasis on analytical skills including the use of GIS and specialised transport planning software. Such learning will prepare students to work in governmental organisations and private sector consultancies in the area of transport. Drawing upon teaching and professional consulting staff with national expertise within Scotland and the UK and international expertise in the Europe, US, Asia and Latin America, the programme will provide a world-class, comprehensive education in addressing complex transport problems affecting cities. MSc candidates will be able to acquire hands-on experience in working with practical problems with the support of consulting firms and will in addition be able to participate in research-related developments in the Urban Big Data Centre recently funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council, with an exciting transport programme on Integrated Urban Transportation Informatics for Shared and Intermodal Transport Planning and Operations: Social, Behavioural and Low-Carbon Considerations.
This is a new programme for 2014 and is subject to approval.
