Metrolink is undergoing a revolution at present. Not only has funding been secured to deliver a significant expansion of the network to Oldham, Rochdale and Ashton town centres, East Didsbury and Manchester Airport but recent announcements have presented the opportunity to construct an additional line connecting the Trafford Centre and Trafford Park into the network. Passenger numbers are also growing rapidly, a new fleet of trams has been introduced, and a more efficient signalling system is being rolled out to replace the ageing British Rail-era signalling on the original lines. All of the above is to be welcomed but this roll out presents significant challenges on a network which operates for over 18 hours per day and 7 days per week.

This event will give you the opportunity to hear from the MD of Metrolink as to how the company is addressing these challenges of upgrading and expanding an extremely busy public transport system and get a “behind-the-scenes” view of the new tram depot and control centre in Old Trafford.

Numbers for this event are extremely limited and names need to be provided to Metrolink in advance so pre-booking is essential. Priority will be given to TPS members. If you’d like to join TPS you can apply online at www.tps.org.uk.

Certificates of attendance for TPS members will be available.

TPS require that all attendees register for the event in advance (places are limited).

Log in to the ICE page and register your place online by clicking here or contact Cheryl Maund.
