Speakers:

  • Dave Colbert (Specialist Advisor, Lancashire County Council);
  • Andrew Ross (Strategic Highways and Transportation Manager, Cheshire East Council); and
  • Simon Warburton (Head of Policy and Research – Transport for Greater Manchester)

Major changes are taking place in the funding of local transport projects. In September 2012, the Department for Transport (DfT) set out detailed proposals for the devolution of the budget for local authority major schemes - this included a requirement to produce an Assurance Framework for Local Transport Bodies (LTBs) and the DfT requested LTBs to provide an initial list of scheme priorities in July 2013.

In March 2013 the Government announced the creation of the Single Local Growth Fund, incorporating elements of housing, skills and transport funding within a single pot. Funding is to be allocated based on the quality of Strategic Economic Plans, which are to be submitted by Local Enterprise Partnerships later this year.

This event will include a presentation from each of the speakers regarding the local implications and opportunities arising from these changes and will be followed by a question and answer session.

We look forward to seeing you there - lunch will be provided. CPD certificates for TPS members will be available.
