James Gleaves from Central Bedfordshire Council will tell the story of the East West Rail Project. This has been continually developed by a Consortium of committed local authorities for many years and ultimately led to, in June 2012, the Government committing to fund the 'Western Section' of the project between Bedford and Oxford, to be delivered by 2019. The Consortium is still working hard on further work to deliver the Central Section, between Bedford and Cambridge. The presentation will focus on both the technical details of the scheme and its impacts on the economic and social geography of the region that it serves.

The event will start at 18:30 and last for approximately one and a half hours.

Please note that entrance to the event is free for TPS members with their membership card and to CIHT members.  A £5 fee applies to RTPI/TPS Transport Planning Network members and a £10 fee applies to non-members.  The fee is payable on the evening.
