The Annual North West Transportation Lecture will discuss the changing role of governance and its impact within the transport industry. This will draw on the experiences of the two event speakers and cover some of the implications for the future of transport operations and delivery.
Food and refreshments available from 6:00pm
Speakers will be Ed Cox, IPPR North and Professor Greg Marsden, Director, ITS Leeds
Ed is an experienced media performer with recent appearances on BBC Breakfast, the Politics Show, BBC Radio 4's Today Programme and local TV and radio stations. He is a regular keynote speaker, chair and contributor to a wide range of national conferences on his areas of expertise.
Before joining IPPR in 2009, Ed was Policy Advisor to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, where he played an important role in shaping the Sub-National Review, the Empowerment white paper and other policy themes. In previous roles, Ed has been Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the Local Government Information Unit and served as a Commissioner on the Government's Commission on Integration and Cohesion.
Greg is Professor of Transport Governance and Director of the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds. His research interests relate to understanding decision-making processes within local and national government, issues of governance and acceptability. He is currently working on issues relating to carbon governance, disruptions and energy demand reduction. He is a member of the Independent Transport Commission and has acted as specialist advisor to the UK Parliamentary Transport scrutiny committee.
