Since its launch in 2008, the TPS Professional Development Scheme has become the industry standard, with 21 organisations now using it. The Scheme provides a detailed structure which transport planners can use to gain the expertise they need to become true professionals, particularly those who aspire to the TPP qualification.

Although well established, and used by most of the leading consultants, the Society has recognised that for many individual Local Authorities implementing and managing the Scheme is likely to be difficult.  Following up suggestions made by Local Authorities, the Society has designed an arrangement that enables groups of Local Authorities to collaborate in providing the Scheme for their staff, the PDS Consortium Licence.
