Rotherham has suffered from the effect of the closure of heavy industry, the retail industry suffered from the effects of the nearby Meadowhall Shopping Centre, and like many other towns of a similar size dominated by a larger City suffered from the effects of the recession.

Despite this attempts are being made to improve and bring life back into the Town, and a great deal of investment has already taken place.

Karl Battersby, Strategic Director, Environment & Development Services, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council will explain what has been done so far and what is still left to do, and also whether the Government's Spending Review will be likely to bring this work to a stop or whether it will be possible for it to continue. We already know that the Bus Rapid Transit link to Sheffield is in doubt, but can regeneration continue? Come along and find out.
