Some of those wanting to progress to the TPP qualification are employed by organisations without any one in-house with the knowledge of the qualification to mentor them.

Such transport planners would greatly benefit from being able to be advised by a volunteer mentor on how best to progress their career, and prepare their TPP application. TPS welcomes offers from among its members to help such transport planners.

Mentoring younger transport planners can be very satisfying, it can also broaden the mentor’s skills and network, enhancing their own career – or make excellent use of spare time for those not fully occupied.  That said, taking on a TPP mentoring role might mean taking on a commitment that will last a few years as the mentee works to their Professional Review Interview.

Any TPS member interested in offering their time to mentor potential TPP candidates should contact Martin Richards via info@tps.org.uk.
