London Summer Social – Visit to the 8th Wonder of the World (1843) – BRUNEL MUSEUM and RIVER TUNNEL

Date:  Thursday 18th August 2011 from 6pm onwards

Venue: Brunel Museum and historic ‘The Mayflower’ Pub

Located in historic Rotherhithe the Brunel Museum is on the site of the Thames Tunnel, the first tunnel under a river anywhere in the world, and the only project which both Brunels (father Marc and son Isambard) worked on together.  So take a break from those late nights in the office and come along to find out about the history and construction of this pioneering engineering achievement, and then enjoy a drink or two with fellow professionals. A great networking opportunity!

6pm - 8pm – Brunel Museum: Private Guided tour of Museum and Tunnel

8pm – onwards: The Mayflower Pub (Drink/Food)

The museum is opening for us to have a private view and guided tour at 6pm, but if you cannot make it at that time, latecomers will still be welcome.  The cost of the tour of the museum and Grand Entrance Hall is £8 per person.  The train tour of the Thames Tunnel is £5 per person.  If you are not interested in the museum visit, then please arrive anytime at The Mayflower pub.
