The TPS Professional Development Scheme has got off to a good start.  Since its launch to a packed meeting of over 50 employers on 28 April, five consultancies - Atkins, Colin Buchanan, Mott MacDonald, Mouchel and MVA - have already obtained licences for its use, and several other organisations are in the process.

In addition the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport – has become a Stakeholder member of the Society to enable it to promote the Scheme as the basis for its accredited professional development schemes.

The Scheme, which is based on the National Occupational Standards for Transport Planning approved by QCA and other regulatory bodies in 2007, provides a standard professional development scheme for all transport planners. In particular, anyone completing the scheme should have all the technical and management competences required for the Transport Planning Professional qualification.

The Scheme is available under licence to all Corporate and Stakeholder members of the Society. Further information can be obtained from info@tps.org.uk.
