11th May 2011, Bircham Dyson Bell, 50 Broadway, Westminster, London

The Localism Bill provides confirmation that the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is here to stay. It also proposes amends to CIL to mean that a proportion of the funds raised from developers will be passed directly to local neighbourhood and community groups allowing them to benefit from new development by investing in local facilities.

This afternoon seminar provides an update on the changes introduced to the Levy by the Localism Bill as well as providing a guide to how the rates should calculated and the implementation process, including the use of CIL to fund larger projects.  The second half focuses on the impact of the localism agenda on CIL implementation looking at how local authorities can work with neighbourhoods to establish local needs and deliver funding directly.

The seminar will cover the following:

  • The proposed changes to CIL in the Localism Bill
  • Infrastructure Delivery Plans and the Implementation of CIL
  • Using CIL to pool contributions for larger projects
  • Working with neighbourhoods to deliver CIL
