TPS is pleased to announce the launch Transport Planning Day 2024.
See all the current vacancies.
Open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis.
The 8th Annual Transport Practitioners’ Meeting took place in York in late July, supported as usual by the Transport Planning Society.
The Society sponsors two of the five awards featured at the TPM, which this year were presented by HRH The Princess Royal.
The Transport Planner of the Year accolade went to Martin Knowles of Surrey County in recognition of his key role in the ‘Transport for Surrey’ partnership and his ‘super-human’ efforts in driving forward a number of major projects, including Airtrack.
The award for Best Paper at the Conference by a Young Professional went to Alina Tuerk of Mott MacDonald for research into the Traffic Impacts of the London Congestion Charge.
The TPS was also keenly interested in two of the other awards: the PTRC Lifetime Achievement Award being well deserved by Andy Costain – who has ably served the Society in various capacities over the years and continues to do so; while TPS Board member John Dales is behind the Urban Transport Design Award sponsored by Urban Initiatives.
As if all this weren’t enough, the TPS also laid on free Pimms and wine at the pre-conference dinner reception. The Transport Planning Society – serving the profession!
