See all the current vacancies.
Open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis.
An invited audience of around 50 people came together at the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff to hear Jim Steer’s talk on High Speed Rail.
His update covered the Network Rail, Greengauge 21 and HS2 reports, giving a well –informed, judicious and timely account of thinking on High Speed rail in Great Britain and continental Europe. Jim appropriately described a fast moving scene combined with a grand strategy and vision for the future.
His audience appreciated all aspects of the presentation, particularly the opportunity to put Welsh aspirations into the British and European contexts. For Transport Planners, Jim Steer indicated that we had an especial role in challenging the desires of politicians and the dreams of engineers.
The event was adeptly chaired by Neil Anderson, secretary of TPS Cymru, blessed with an introduction from Tad Deiniol and concluded by Andrew Hemmings, chair of TPS Cymru, with a special presentation and vote of thanks.
Recognising CILT’s support for the event, Chris Yewlett, chair of CILT-UK Cymru /Wales presented Jim Steer with Y Draig – their prestigious red dragon given to visiting speakers.
TPS Cymru’s Executive is grateful to Jim Steer, to Jenny Randerson, Assembly Member, and to our sister organisations in Wales for their commitment and support for our successful first event.
