On Wednesday 19 August, the TPS London summer social saw a group of enthusiastic transport planners embark on a glorious river walk on what was arguably the hottest night of the year.

The streets and pubs were packed, but not to be put off we set off from Mansion House station with our excellent Guide, taking in the sights of St Pauls, the millennium bridge and Tate Modern, the Globe, and reminding ourselves that London is best experienced by foot.

We trailed through Borough Market, where we were able to discuss the merits of the Thameslink project overhead (the Guide hadn't bargained for that), and concluded our tour at London's only pub to be owned by the National Trust.  A fabulous evening was had by all.
