Transport planners have been remembering the career of Stephen Plowden, who with the publication of “Towns against Traffic” and “Changing Directions” in the early 1970s was a key figure in the making of modern transport planning. He was posthumously awarded the PTRC Lifetime Achievement Award at TPM this year.  A memoire by his son Ed, Keith Buchan and Tim Pharoah was published in the July edition of Local Transport Today and can be accessed here.
