Transport Planning Society Board Co-optee opening

TPS is looking for a new co-optee to join its board!

The current TPS Committee comprises 15 elected Directors who serve a 3 year term, Institutional Representatives and the option for up to 4 co-optees. Co-optees are appointed on an annual basis and provide an opportunity for specialists to join the board – currently we have three co-optees who represent skills, academia and mobility impaired.

The board meets every two months – historically at Great George Street off Parliament Square but during the pandemic they have been held via Teams. The meeting normally lasts around 3.5 hours where we cover general business and areas of interest to the running of the Society such as Transport Planning Day and wider events, policy, membership, skills etc. We have a number of smaller sub groups who meet between meetings and these include the officers group, membership, events and comms, policy and TP Day.

We are looking for a representative to ensure that our work and the decisions we make reflect the needs of all our membership, with a particular emphasis around minorities groups. We would welcome someone who is either from such a group or a keen advocate to contribute to areas such as skills development, policy and membership. All posts are undertaken on a voluntary basis (although out of pocket expenses for travel are paid) and contribution over and above the meetings is discretionary.

Please contact the TPS Company Secretary at company.secretary@tps.co.uk if you are interested in becoming a co-optee.
