Details:

The conflict in Ukraine has devastated lives and caused immense damage to critical infrastructure. Humanitarian needs, such as shelter, food, and health services, are a priority. Housing, healthcare facilities, schools, energy infrastructure and transportation networks are crucial to meeting these needs and supporting the population's wellbeing. Recognising this reality, the UK government's Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is evaluating opportunities to harness the skills and expertise of the UK private sector in support of Ukraine's reconstruction, ongoing development, and goal to build a resilient economy.

Within this broader programme, the DBT produced a Ukraine Business Guide, which was updated in March 2024 following a review by Deloitte and Arup. This work was informed by consultation with firms to discuss the conditions for working in Ukraine and specific barriers in the way of providing support. Deloitte and Arup are now collecting data to inform recommendations for actions by the UK government to help UK firms overcome the obstacles to working in Ukraine.

What do we want your views on?

  1. Identifying the most critical challenges.
  2. Understanding the obstacles to addressing these critical challenges.
  3. Defining achievable objectives that address the critical challenges.
  4. Highlighting areas where the UK built environment industry has a competitive advantage.

Why do we want your help?

The feedback you provide will shape the support actions taken by the UK government. The more input you provide, the greater the likelihood that these actions will be relevant and useful. For some of you, the responses may be building on discussions you have had during consultation events. This survey will capture that feedback in a consistent format across a range of firms and provide you with an opportunity to expand upon earlier exchanges.

How long will this take?

There are eight questions. We have configured six of these for free text responses, so that you can share your thoughts freely. Two questions are in multiple choice format. These questions will allow us to categorise responses by firm sector focus and firm size. We estimate that the survey will take twenty to thirty minutes to complete. There is no requirement to complete all the questions. We welcome as much information as you can provide.
