Parliamentary reception: ‘Tackling Hate Crime on Public Transport’

Every year as part of our Transport Planning Day campaign, TPS host a parliamentary reception to engage parliamentarians on tackling our chosen theme. This year we decided to focus the reception on hate crime on public transport.

Eradicating hate crime is a first and vital step in creating an inclusive transport network. However, reports of hate crime on public transport have been steadily increasing in the past 5 to 10 years. As transport planners, it’s essential we design transport networks that are inclusive to everyone to reverse these trends and help create a more equal society.

Speakers for the event will include:

  • Sarah Owen MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Hate Crime (keynote)
  • Lisa Garett, Superintendent at the British Transport Police
  • Jo Field, President of Women in Transport
  • A member of TfL’s Policing and On street operations team.

The event will be invite only.
