MSc Transport Planning at University of Hertfordshire approved for TPP

The MSc Transport Planning at the University of Hertfordshire has been approved by the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) Professional Standards Committee.

The MSc Transport Planning course, which opened its doors to students in 2021, has been developed with input from industry and others including the TPS skills team. The TPP approval means that graduates of this course have a simpler pathway to becoming Chartered Transport Planning Professionals. They are eligible to take the Standard Route to TPP Professional Review without having to complete a Portfolio of Technical Knowledge (PTK).

Sue Walsh, Programme Lead for the MSc Transport Planning said,” We are delighted to achieve accreditation for the University of Hertfordshire MSc Transport Planning Programme. Through our course we are committed to help educate and inspire the next generation of Transport Planning Professionals who will play a critical role in ensuring we meet future transport and mobility needs in a low carbon, sustainable and connected environment.”

Keith Buchan, TPS Skills Director said, “TPS supported the development of the Herts MSc and we’re very pleased that this course has been approved for the Transport Planning Professional.  It provides a new opportunity for people wanting to develop a career in transport planning through to Chartership. We look forward to University of Hertfordshire graduates achieving TPP in future years.”

The TPP qualification recognises the high levels of skill and breadth of experience of transport planners and is jointly awarded by the Transport Planning Society and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.  Successful candidates can register as Chartered Transport Planning Professionals (CTPP), recognising their professional achievement against this widely respected benchmark.
