Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps has launched a new Acceleration Unit that will see vital “rail and road upgrades be delivered more quickly, creating jobs, increasing connectivity, and boosting the economy.”

The unit is set to be in place by September and will be directly accountable to the Transport Secretary. It will be led by Darren Shirley, currently Chief Executive of the Campaign for Better Transport and formerly of Which? Magazine.
