TPS is pleased to announce the launch Transport Planning Day 2024.
See all the current vacancies.
Open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis.
Due to a late flurry of interest in this year’s TPS Bursary Competition, we have extended the deadline by 1 week only, to give everyone a chance to get their submissions in! The deadline is now Friday 28 July.
This year’s Bursary asks you to:
‘Investigate a transport intervention that has been shown to reduce environmental damage. How did it interact with poverty / social exclusion? How transferrable is that solution for other places/problems?’
We discussed some great ideas at the TPM conference where we had a stand and invited ideas on possible case studies from attendees. We’re excited to see what ideas you have.
We also had a great turnout at our recent lunchtime webinar where the 4 Bursary finalists from 2022 shared their research. It was fascinating to see the different directions each person took their research in, including rural and urban settings and a sense that the Bus is worth more than just as a transport mode – it offers a chance to connect to your community, access opportunities and there was a reminder they need to integrate with other services e.g. in a Mobility Hub. There were lots of questions on topics including ticketing, return of ridership, young people, operations and the role of app-based ride hailing to provide access to high frequency bus routes. Our 2022 Bursary winner, Jamie Smith, not only won the £250 TPS Bursary award but was delighted to receive the prize for the best paper by a Young Professional at TPM! Well done Jamie! Do reach out to any of the previous Bursarians or Laura Putt if you would like to find out more about taking part.
