Could you help to champion the Transport Planning Network?

We are currently seeking nominations from members who would like to be considered for the role of Vice Chair of the Transport Planning Network. This is a great opportunity to build your professional network, help us champion the integration of transport and land use planning, and shape our programme of events and political engagement over the next two years.

What's involved?

Our Vice-Chair provides valuable support to the RTPI and TPS on transport planning policy and research, including by:

  • Identifying issues and topics which are relevant to network members
  • Contributing to the newsletter, and commenting on relevant political announcements in RTPI publications and The Planner magazine
  • Identifying themes and speakers for our annual conference and/or regional events
  • Shaping our policy and research agenda
  • Speaking on behalf of the RTPI at external events, and engaging with members whenever convenient

About you

The role of Vice-Chair is suited for somebody who can:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to planning and the strategic objectives and vision of the RTPI and TPS
  • Devote time to the role, of approximately one day per month
  • Confidently represent the RTPI and TPS by speaking at external events and respond to media enquiries
  • Contribute to blogs, news articles and government consultations
  • Exploit these opportunities to build and develop their own professional network

NB: The role of Chair is open to RTPI members only, and the role of Vice Chair is open to TPS members. If you would like to be considered, then please send a short statement of your experience and interest in the role (two or three paragraphs) to transport.planningnetwork@rtpi.org.uk.
