TPS is pleased to announce the launch Transport Planning Day 2024.
See all the current vacancies.
Open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis.
TPS currently runs the industry standard Professional Development Scheme (PDS) for transport planners. Over 400 trainees participate across private and public sectors. It takes about 3 years to complete, requiring written submission and interview. We are currently looking for experienced transport planners who are interested in helping us by becoming PDS Reviewers.
We need experienced practitioners who can meet and support trainees along their way and participate in the final review process. This involves around 8-10 days a year visiting employers, meeting up to 4 trainees per visit, plus some preparation and follow up work. Further details are in the summary leaflet, found here.
The current team works across the UK and any senior transport planner who is interested in becoming a reviewer should in the first instance contact the TPS Director for Skills on skills@tps.org.uk. As well as travel expenses there is a small remuneration for conducting trainee reviews and final reviews.
TPS Skills Director, Keith Buchan said:
“We want to support all transport planners in progressing their careers. The PDS is clearly a key part of this process and we hope TPS members will be able to help in this important work. Please get in touch!”
