Call for nominations - Transport Planner and Young Transport Planner of the Year

Nominations are being sought for the Transport Planning Society sponsored ‘Transport Planner of the Year Award 2023' and 'Young Transport Planner of the Year Award 2023'.

We are looking for individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the transport planning profession over the last year. This could be in the form of a project delivered, a pioneering technique or approach used, someone who has put their head above the parapet, or just because they are a good ambassador for the profession. Please be aware there is a separate Lifetime Achievement award presented at TPM.

This year we are also running a brand new ‘Young Transport Planner of the Year’ award. The criteria will be anyone under the age of 30 or with less than 7 years of experience in transport planning.

All entries must be nominated by a colleague or third party. Please send the name of your nominee and no more that 250 words stating why they should be considered for this award, to our Business Manager, Sarah McSharry at businessmanager@tps.org.uk

The deadline is Friday 14th April.

This prestigious award will be presented at the annual Transport Practitioners’ Meeting to be held from 28-29 June in London. Last year's winner was Jillian Anable, Professor of Transport and Energy at the ITS, University of Leeds.

On receiving her award Jillian Anable, said:

"I am thrilled to receive the Transport Planner of the Year award from the Transport Planning Society, in a year with some incredible other transport planners nominated. I would especially like to thank those that nominated and selected me for the award and my colleagues who make all my work possible. I am particularly proud of my recent work studying the ongoing impact of the pandemic on patterns of travel and car ownership and its future policy implications for the Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS).”
