See all the current vacancies.
Open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis.
For 2008, four bursaries were successfully presented, focusing on a range of topics.
Billy Parr of the London Borough of Waltham Forest focuses on the goverment's response to the Stern and Eddington Reports, and considers the implications for transport planners.
Christopher Mason, from Hyder Consulting in Guildford, researched 'peak oil': when might it happen, and what effect might it have on transport usage and planning?
The role of females in transport planning is the focus of Sarah Fish's research. Sarah, who works for Capita Symonds in Cwmbran, asks whether the traditionally male-dominated transport profession needs to develop a more female-inspired agenda, and if so, what should it be? Or are male and female transport needs the same?
Focusing on travel to football matches, Neil Taylor of Integrated Transport Planning Ltd in Nottingham asks whether local authorities and football clubs are missing an opportunity to promote smarter travel choices to a bigger crowd.
Bursary winners worked closely with their mentors over the summer to develop their papers for presentation to the TPS Board. All the 2008 Bursary Papers can be found in our online library.
