Principal Transport Modeller

Job Description

  • Manage the technical input of a small team, pass on your knowledge, and support and mentor the team effectively;

  • Have an analytical mind and background

  • Have knowledge and experience in transport modelling and forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals;

  • Have used and have great knowledge of transport software packages e.g. CUBE/VOYAGER, SATURN, PARAMICS, EMME, VISSIM, TUBA and spreadsheet modelling to name a few;

  • It would be an advantage if you have experience in using Python or R to analyse/present data;

  • Be good at managing your time to ensure you meet deadlines;

  • Have strong technical and report writing skills;

  • Be able to explain technical concepts to others, especially our graduates and anyone else who may ask.

The focus of this position is on technical task management. However, if you are interested this could be opened up to project management and client interaction. As in all things, we are flexible.

Over the next two years AECOM are undertaking for the Scottish Government the Strategic Transport Projects Review 2, which will shape the future of Scotland’s transport infrastructure investment over the next 20 years. At the same time, as the number one ranked consultant on Transport Scotland’s transport modelling framework are updating Scotland’s national transport model, and pushing further on our research into the use of mobile phone data. AECOM is therefore uniquely positioned in Scotland to offer a transport modeller the opportunity to undertake exciting projects that will have a real impact on people’s lives.
