Senior/Associate Transport Engineer

Job Description

M-EC is a privately-owned engineering and environmental multi-disciplinary consultancy, operating nationally from four offices and employing 60 staff. We serve both private and public sector clients in sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education and healthcare.

The Company is currently undergoing an exciting change programme and we are seeking a Senior/Associate Transport Engineer to join our Transport team in our Leicestershire office. The main focus of the Traffic and Transportation section is to provide our client’s appropriate with evidence led consideration of the traffic impacts of development proposals and measures to remove or mitigate any such impact by use of analytical and engineering judgment. Key role responsibilities:

• Management and development of the Transportation team;

• Design project management, co-ordination with other disciplines/offices, client liaison, fee proposals and invoicing;

• Working collaboratively with engineers and other technicians to deliver quality evidence led reports by a variety of measures;

• Business development with existing clients and creating new contacts/opportunities;

• Implement high design standards and deliver BIM (Building Information Modelling) solutions to projects, and;

• The mentoring and supervision of Transport planning apprentices, technicians and engineers

Key skills, experience and attributes required:

• A minimum qualification of a degree in Transport Planning or similar;

• Demonstrable experience in a Transport Planning field;

• Proficient user of AutoCAD and related software including swept path analysis;

• Have the ability to prepare CAD drawings to a standard suitable for pre-planning purposes;

• Use various computer software programs which will include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), AutoCAD and more specialist software including; PICADY/ARCADY (Junctions 9), LINSIG, TRICS and TEMPRO.

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of national and local planning and highways design standards and ability to interpret and communicate these policies effectively;

• Excellent communication skills to liaise with colleagues and clients;

• Ability to work within a team and also able work under own initiative;

• Excellent organisational skills and able to prioritise workload.
