Job Description

ITP is an award winning and creative transport planning consultancy that employs the very best transport planners and provides an environment in which people can flourish and develop fulfilling careers.  We recently joined forces with Royal HaskoningDHV – expanding both the horizons we can offer our people, and the range of interesting and socially impactful projects on which we work.

We are looking for highly motivated and experienced transport planners to lead a broad mix of transport planning projects.  We have vacancies in three of our five sectoral teams – international projects; transport policy and strategy; and development planning.

Although based in one of our UK offices and with some flexibility with regards remote working, projects may involve working across the UK and overseas.  You will be given the opportunity to accelerate your career by working alongside industry experts, within an inclusive and caring company environment.  As a seasoned transport planner you will be expected to:

  • Lead and manage a range of projects
  • Hold and apply significant technical expertise in an area of relevance to ITP
  • Manage time effectively, working with colleagues to deliver to scope and budget
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, helping to secure new and repeat work
  • Proactively contribute to company growth through business development activities
  • Inspire and develop less-experienced members of staff by freely sharing your knowledge

We think the ideal candidate will also have:

  • Exceptional transport planning technical skills and project experience in:
    • transport strategy development and appraisal
    • public transport strategy or operations
    • development planning
  • A sound understanding of transport policy and current issues in the UK and/or internationally
  • Demonstrable experience of managing projects for transport authorities, private sector clients, or international funding institutions in the UK and/or internationally
  • Knowledge and skills to extract and analyse complex data sets to derive valuable insights
  • A growing network of industry contacts and positive client referrals
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
  • Excellent report-writing skills

We offer a flexible, friendly, informal and inclusive working environment, exciting project opportunities, and a competitive remuneration package, including salary sacrifice schemes and flexible working.  If the idea of joining us appeals, please send your CV and a covering letter (including expected salary) to Jim Bradley (, or for an informal and confidential conversation call Jim on 07970 775481.  Further information on ITP is available at
