Purpose of the Job

Wedderburn Transport Planning Ltd is a small consultancy based in London and Hong Kong focussing on both transport planning and people movement analysis. Our work encompasses strategic advice, research, and forecasting/appraisal studies for government agencies, as well as local movement analysis studies for private sector clients.

People movement analysis services represent an expanding area of our business, and we are seeking to recruit an analyst to develop our portfolio of pedestrian movement analysis tools. This role is a unique opportunity to work on research and development in a fast-expanding field. The selected candidate will have a varied job description with the opportunity to work on both research and live projects.

This role could suit a transport modeller seeking greater variety and a new challenge. It could also suit an analytical post-graduate with a background in data science, modelling or programming and an interest in urban planning.

Principal Accountabilities

Responsibilities will include:

    • Liaising with colleagues and clients to understand their requirements for the further development of movement planning tools;
    • Developing and implementing a prioritised programme of research and other tasks to develop the portfolio of movement planning tools used by Wedderburn;
    • This programme will likely include the data from pedestrian movement tracking devices and its interface with analysis tools, GIS software and GIS-based analysis tools, micro-simulation modelling tools, and potentially stand-alone applications to interface between the above; and
    • Liaising with other staff to test applications on demonstration studies or pilots.
  • Providing technical input to movement planning and multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of master planning projects, typically for urban mixed-use sites, and retail visioning projects.
  • Involvement with a range of transport planning projects, including transport policy and strategies, transport research, project appraisal, demand projections, connectivity studies, and assistance with private development projects.
  • Working with suppliers of data, associated software platforms or analytical tools to ensure coordination and quality.
  • Writing technical notes and contributing to study reports.
  • Presenting data and the results of spatial analysis in a clear and comprehensible fashion.
  • Contributing to the production of proposal documents and business development activities.
  • Assisting the team with administrative and project management responsibilities.
  • Attending technical meetings with clients, client teams and public authorities.
