Job Description

We are currently seeking to recruit enthusiastic and experienced Transport Modellers and Planners with 2 to 10 years’ experience to join our Glasgow or Edinburgh transport teams on a permanent basis.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across a range of high-profile transport projects, including; major scheme appraisals, business cases, strategic and local modelling, data analysis and transport strategy projects.

Key responsibilities / duties include:

  • Providing technical support on a range of transport projects across the UK, including transport modelling, forecasting and appraisal;
  • Undertaking and supporting businesses cases to inform transport investment decisions;
  • Managing and analysing large data sets;
  • Conducting primary and desk-based research to support planning and transport projects;
  • Task, Project and Staff management - delivering projects to time and budget; and
  • Preparing material for fee proposals and tenders.

Capabilities and Qualifications

The ideal Candidates must have/be:

  • positive and enthusiastic team players;
  • degree / higher level qualification ideally in Transport Planning, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operational Research or equivalent;
  • highly numerate;
  • excellent report writing skills;
  • excellent communicators and confident to attend meetings and advise clients and technical team members as appropriate;
  • self-motivated;
  • experience of meeting demanding deadlines;
  • an interest in keeping up to date with developments in transport modelling and appraisal;
  • proven capability in one or more transport modelling software packages (eg CUBE, VISUM, SATURN, PARAMICS, VISSIM);
  • proficiency in the use of MS Excel and MS Access; and
  • experience of GIS, MS Project, SPSS and\or SQL.

Ideally the applicant will be able to demonstrate their experience, competency and flexibility to meet the demands of the role.
