Role responsibilities

The purpose of the Assistant Project Manager role is to support the delivery of transport related projects to improve transport services in line with Welsh Government transport policy and strategy.  

• Support the Project Manager to deliver a range of transport related projects by applying robust project lifecycle methodologies (such as APM or PRINCE 2), implementing the project plan, schedule of all tasks, key milestones and resource management to ensure these are completed safely to time, cost and quality.

• Support the provision of a professional and effective project management service, including project governance, reporting, technical working groups and executive steering groups, in accordance with the required processes and timelines to ensure the projects are aligned to Transport for Wales (TfW) processes and delivered to cost and quality.

• Track project and programme progress and provide regular reports to a variety of stakeholders by supporting the Project and Programme Managers to establish and implement the project plan, including a schedule of all tasks, key milestones and resource management to ensure TfW delivers projects to time, cost and quality.

• Support the Project Manager to identify and monitor project risks, including financial, reputational, quality, environmental and health and safety, collaborating with the appropriate TfW risk professionals and managing the risk register to ensure TfW can implement effective mitigation.

Who we’re looking for

• Working towards a project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2 or similar.
• Previous experience of supporting the delivery of transport projects.
• Basic understanding of the application of Future Generations Act, Better Business Case Five Case Model and WelTAG in relation to transport projects.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in support of a robust safety culture.
• Experience of administering project management documentation including project action trackers, programmes, project reporting, risk and issue processes.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.

Bydd y Rheolwr Prosiectau Cynorthwyol yn cefnogi’r gwaith o gyflawni prosiectau sy’n ymwneud â thrafnidiaeth er mwyn gwella gwasanaethau trafnidiaeth yn unol â pholisi a strategaeth trafnidiaeth Llywodraeth Cymru.  

• Cefnogi’r Rheolwr Prosiect i gyflawni amrywiaeth o brosiectau sy’n ymwneud â thrafnidiaeth, drwy ddefnyddio methodolegau cylch bywyd prosiect cadarn (fel APM neu PRINCE 2), rhoi cynlluniau prosiectau ar waith, llunio amserlen o’r holl dasgau, cyflawni cerrig milltir allweddol a rheoli adnoddau er mwyn sicrhau bod y rhain yn cael eu cwblhau’n ddiogel, mewn da bryd, yn unol â’r gyllideb ac o safon.

• Helpu i ddarparu gwasanaeth rheoli prosiectau proffesiynol ac effeithiol, gan gynnwys y trefniadau llywodraethu, y prosesau adrodd, a’r gweithgorau technegol a grwpiau llywio gweithredol, yn unol â’r prosesau a’r amserlenni angenrheidiol er mwyn sicrhau bod y prosiectau’n cyd-fynd â phrosesau Trafnidiaeth Cymru (TrC) a’u bod yn cael eu cyflawni yn unol â’r gyllideb ac o safon.

• Olrhain cynnydd prosiectau a rhaglenni a darparu adroddiadau rheolaidd i amrywiaeth o randdeiliaid drwy gefnogi’r Rheolwyr Rhaglenni a Phrosiectau i sefydlu a rhoi cynlluniau prosiectau ar waith, gan gynnwys llunio amserlen o’r holl dasgau, cyflawni cerrig milltir allweddol a rheoli adnoddau er mwyn sicrhau bod TrC yn cyflawni prosiectau yn unol â’r amserlen a’r gyllideb a’u bod o safon.

• Profiad o weinyddu dogfennau rheoli prosiectau gan gynnwys adnoddau olrhain camau prosiect, rhaglenni, adrodd am brosiectau, prosesau risg a phroblemau.
